Home / Blog / 12 Days of Beer Recipes: Day 7 – Beer-Battered Apple Rings

Tis the season for Holiday cheer and desserts full of beer from Method Architecture! The 7th recipe for the 12 Days of Beer Recipes is beer-battered apple rings!

Beer-Battered Apple Rings

Ingredients
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup of Holler Brewery Good Clean Fun (or a light beer)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Vegetable oil
  • 4 apples (peeled granny smith or gala apples)
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions

In a medium bowl, whisk egg white until foamy. Whisk in beer, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.

Pour about 2 inches of Vegetable oil into a Dutch oven or deep cast iron skillet or pot. Heat to 375 degrees.

While oil is heating, cut apples into slices about 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick, starting at bottom of apple and working your way to stem end. Use an apple corer or a knife to remove the core part of each slice. Pat apple slices dry with paper towel and place in batter.

Coat slices well in batter and fry about 4 apple rings at a time, cooking 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate. Immediately after removing from oil, sprinkle with just a touch of salt.

Combine powdered sugar and cinnamon and sift over apple rings before serving. Best served immediately.

Holler Brewery

Located in Houston’s newest warehouse arts district, the founders of Holler Brewing Co. wanted a simple, modern space to brew their beer. By replacing the existing garage doors with retractable, glass doors and adding a window into the brewery area, we were able to expand the tasting room and provide a spacious area for customers to enjoy a beer.
